How can you help preserve YOUR Heritage Park?
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Noosa Council is finalising a Draft Plan to manage eight Noosa Parkland bushland reserves with the focus being on Heritage Park. The draft plan will be made available for PUBLIC COMMENT and suggestions.
Go to Yoursay Noosa and tell Council what YOU would like to see in the Draft Management Plan. The Draft Plan and Hydrologist report can be downloaded from the comments section.
1. A hydrologist report on Wooroi Creek which drains stormwater from roads on the western side of Parklands and frequently breaks its banks during heavy rain events, recommends that NO CLEARING OF CREEKS be undertaken.
2. The Draft Management Plan by consultants ECOSURE recommends that the lagoon NOT BE CLEARED of Salvinia because it is contained and no Salvinia has moved down stream. This is clearly NOT CORRECT.
Picture below taken on July 12th shows FRESH OUTBREAK of salvinia 700 metres downstream from the lagoon. The outbreak has been reported to Qld Biosecurity by a resident and an officer has been assigned to investigate the case.
NOTE: We are NOT critical of the local Bushcare Group, who have a hard enough battle just fighting weeds with limited resources.
We ARE asking Council to CONSULT WITH RESIDENTS (Stakeholders in Heritage Park) when making decisions that affect the future function, usability, safety and natural environment of OUR Park.
